So far, I've seen people saying that the game isn't that good. That the game controls are a little weird. But it's more fun than MBA.

There's plenty of gameplay vids up on Niconico, and in general the gameplay seems to be different enough from MBA that it's not really fair to compare them - in comparision to MBA where you're dashing halfway across the stage just to dodge an attack, Battle of Aces allows dashing only in very short bursts, with a slowly refilling dash gauge to limit how often and how fast you can dash. Because of that, it's got a very different feel.

Aside from that, Battle of Aces seems to trend generally toward smaller-scale attacks compared to MBA, and makes use of a number of interesting submechanics compared to the more conventional MBA. Going so far out of its way to be different, though, does tend to impact the result negatively. And while MBA had the luxury of having had a demo and three years of patches and expansion packs to iron out balance issues and the like, Battle of Aces is a new release for a handheld, and thus seems to be burdened with the kind of gameplay imbalances and issues common to a "first" fighting game.

Basically, it seems unpolished, and while that's not an uncommon problem among new fighting series, most other games typically fix the problems and become good through their sequels, a luxury Battle of Aces can't really count on. The practical result of all this is that it seems like the best strategy is to constantly fly to the side, spamming specials and dashing out of the way of the opponent's specials; the better gameplay vids I've seen ignored melee completely, though those videos featured Nanoha and Fate and I haven't seen any really worthwhile ones featuring the Wolkenritter yet.

Comparing the two, it is possible that a figma Teana will have the same gimmicks as the actsta one. Figma Subaru doesn't have the rollerblade-less feet or both knuckless hands, but they added the combat cyborg face and an attack effect.
