No thread for Signum? How dare you guys!
inb4 Signum is gonna be raped in battle again XP
Why you hate her so much Tsuzuki!? T-T
Ah, resting on a beach....
..That image have a look more reminiscent of the A's era Signum xD
She was quite cute back then.
Can someone identify the shape of Signum's new weapon xD? She hold that thing as f it were a sword but the buljy frontal parts and the lack of an actual blade made me think that sould be a spear or a bow xDU
OMG! that thing is ugly...
...except the one in the movie is stylished, properly sized, turns into whip, it's called Laevatein and doesn't suck xDU
Being a weapon under the infamous brand of the "AEC-Equipement" series is already bad enough but why they think Signum woulod need a bigger blade?
The only things she bested Cypha in was swordsmanship and speed and this humongous clumsy thing could probably affect Signum precisely in those two areas xDU
You can't never go wrong with Tokoharu.
It's so quiet in here lately...
Picked this up off of RPG.net. No idea where it's really from though.
Seeing her where to go?
どこにいけば会えるのだろう?
Really nice image.

I wish I could have that as a figurine. I'd worship it everyday.

Since I didn't see this thread, I felt inclined to share it. Nanoha.com is threatening to release a "reboot" of A's similar to the first season in Nanoha: the Movie First.
Epicness to commence? Set Up!
>>100 Maybe chrono will get to use L'arc en Ciel? Since Lindy's going to the battlefield...haha if only. I second the notion of a cooler version of Eternal Coffin, instead of icy wind, let's have a f*cking blizzard.
Lindy is not going to Curbstomp Signum...For one, if it were possible, the issue would be resolved rather quickly and Nano/Fate wouldn't need their upgraded devices. At best, she might fight on even terms with her, if they even do fight. It might just be them rearing to fight and then the wolkenritter have to leave, like they do in A's...This way would just be a bit different.
>>103
i'd have to agree. they're actually doing a few tweaks to the story here and there if you think about it. if what the trailers revealed are true, Nanoha and Fate do not meet up in the heat of battle but in a more casual manner.
at first i thought Lindy holding Durandal was one of the Liese sisters disguised, but it wouldn't make sense since Hayate doesn't know who Lindy is and will not go berserk. then again, they may have tweaked the story to make it make sense. seeing how Durandal was shown, i assumed it was near the end of the story.
>>105
that's a first, i had not heard of that. if that's the case, it makes me wonder what they'll do in the second battle with Fate/Signum and Nanoha/Vita if they aren't present. i mean, they did take Fate's linker core which is a pretty big deal.
>>106 Yeah I was thinking of that too. If there's no Lieze twins, then Graham would have to do all the dirty works himself...orr...the Wolkies have to do some...unpleasant things they didn't get to do during the TV series.
As far as Fate's linker core goes, I'd bet that Shamal will just be the one to do it.
>>108 Either Shamal or Vita. Vita with the BoD I mean....
>>109
I predict Shamal just because she is the most underused character in the whole Nanoha series. probably give her some screen time, and she'd be a good filler character for the twins without twisting the original plot too much.
久しぶりにアニメ版を予習する必要があるな
楽しみです
....also Chrno and Reinforce xD
Joke aside, it will be cool if there are an alternate costume for the lieze Twins that make them appear as the Masked Guys xD!
>>27
oh god, I had forgotten about that particular comic. BRAIN BLEACH!
While re-reading the thread, I thought for a moment you said "Chirno and Reinforce" due to your mispelling of Chrono. This was only reinforced (pun intended) by the knowledge that Chrono used Ice elemental effects at the end of A's.
Thankfully, I could find no Touhou / Nanoha pics that invoked that.
>>28
But what would they have as 'normal', instead of as the Masked guys?
Now we only need Cypha in the game to have our pitches and torches ready xD.
Release date Dec 22! Promo and more details available too! http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2011-12-06/lyrical-nanoha-a/gears-of-destiny-psp-promos-posted
All season 1/2 chars playable, including the likes of Precia and both seasons' catgirl familiars, plus the Force and ViVid stars, plus the Materials and the new originals! And loads of alternate costumes too! How much does a PSP cost again?
Anyone working on translating the game yet?
If not, I'm currently trying to screen cap all of the dialog in the game. Here is a sample: http://depositfiles.com/files/gklmsjmso
Best parent in the world?
That's not Nanofate.
>>2
Who cares, i like Momoko, in fact i miss most of the forgotten cast of Season One, it'll be nice to see them again even if it's just in small bits so we get to know what happened with them over the course of the long timeskips xD.
Still i'll think twice to call her "best parent in the world" sure, she's a very nice parent but it always bugged me a little how easily she emphasized with Nanoha's need to go on long, unexplainable trips, alone with her ferret mascot ...at 9 years old xDU. Somehow makes sense AFTER she and the family learned about Nanoha's magical secret but she was like that even before that. Don't misinterpret me, Momoko is still a very caring mother and probably this shows just how much she trust her daughter ...but leaving your younger 9 year old daughter to go on a trip to an unknown place and do unknown things just like that really catched my attention xDU
>>3
Considering she's the ChiChi of the family with her Assassin husband and kids, Nanoha going on an "unexplainable trip" is probably akin to a weekend sleepover.
>>2
personally I like to compare nanoha's parenting abilities, at first, to goku
>>5 Both of them are amazing parenting that resulted in awesome children. One is the Sank Kaiser and the other side has A super saian genius and the Kid who beat Cell when he was 14 years old :D
>Vivio was the Sankt Kaiser already and you didn't really see her power until after Scaglietti captured her
>Goku was mostly either fighting or dead throughout Gohan's childhood and he was trained primarily by Piccolo
oh, and
>Precia was a doting parent to her real daughter and treated Fate like garbage because she regarded her as a failed experiment and an inferior imitation
So by that logic... that would mean villains are awesome parents.
...the Vita version:
Gentlemen, start your wallets...!
Vita uses her Vita to listen to MP3s as well. What is her favourite prog rock group?:
Van Der Graf Eisen Generator.
...I'll get my coat.

I was soooo waiting for something like this to crop up when the official name to the system was revealed.
I'll save my money for the PS Fate
I wish ;_;
A translator at MangaFox very kindly decided to pick up translating Vivid. Remind me to service him as well. At the moment he's working on 16.
Read it here:

Download it here:
http://forums.mangafox.com/showthread.php?t=207311
You're really gonna pretend Vivid's not a fanservice exploitation manga when it's drawn by a loli eromanga artist and they put naked girls on the covers, repeatedly?
(No goodies visible but I'll take it down if it's too much for this site...)
Anyone have the special cover for volume 3? I have the rest, just not that one.
I would not say the Nanoha franchise is dead so much as nothing of note is happening in it. Strikers -- though mildly entertaining -- was not what fans of Nanoha fell in love with. Gone was the cute Nanoha, gone was the unrestrained battling -- and in return we were given politics and limiters. Bleh. And I don't think the creators know quite how to extract themselves out of that mistake. Perhaps a collapse of the TSAB with Team Nanoha as the last defense against an insanely powerful foe to end the series on a high note? Eh, just some thoughts.
If you haven't read the doujinshi "Nanoha BetrayerS" yet, give it a look. It's based on a similar scenario, and there's an English translated version available.
Wow, that pretty up sums up my opinions on anything post A's. Seriously, as a die hard fan of the first two seasons, I can't help but feel that the writers are just beating a dead horse.
I honestly do hope that they stop before we get to a point where we have Nanoha, Fate and Hayate - ages 90 - in a retirement home whining about the good ol' days whilst we follow the exploits of Teena and Subaru's love child's android sister's twin brother's cousin from a parallel future world or something. The funny thing? It'll probably still have "Magical GIRL Lyrical NANOHA' in the title.
Not to mention, that's pretty much why I've been so ecstatic about the movies, because they are brilliant moves - going back to the roots, re-visiting what made the franchise awesome in the first place and making it even better. Awesome stuff. Sad thing is... after the A's movie... there will probably be a StrikerS one...
Honestly, I feel like StrikerS was a good idea done badly. There was only so much mileage they could get out of just Nanoha and only her bestest friends working basically alone on Earth, beating off an endless line of dangerous but well-meaning multiversal threats with tragic pasts. StrikerS expanded the universe while at the same time bumping down the power levels, showing us Midchildans that WEREN'T super expert elite mages.
The main problem with StrikerS was that it was too ambitious. It added way too many characters, half of them weren't compelling in the slightest, and the interesting ones (including the old cast) got all their screentime and badass moments stolen by the crappy ones. They overstretched themselves trying to give backstory and a human element to as many members of that enormous cast as they could, and totally mishandled it. StrikerS essentially collapsed under its own weight.
The problem is that they're doing the same thing with both of the spinoffs. Not only does ViVid add a massive new cast of characters of its very own, but it tries to find a role for as many of the older characters as possible, leaving it with a dangerously overloaded cast and relegating basically the entire A's cast to side characters. Force does the same thing, except even worse because the new villains have to beat up the original cast (along with everyone else) to prove how badass they are.
In the end, none of the spinoff writers have been able to manage the task of balancing their own original set of characters with the both small but beefy A's cast and the gigantic and diverse StrikerS cast. Even the StrikerS writers couldn't handle the ridiculous number of characters they introduced. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good ideas and good characters out there in the post-A's world. But as long as the writers are trying to write their own basically-original story and world while at the same time including almost every single cast member that has shown up in any Nanoha property to date, the spinoffs can't avoid being unwieldy messes. My advice is to pick out the aspects you like and try your best to ignore the rest.
Thumbs Up. I also think StrikerS proposed very interesting ideas and offered some cool characters but did poorly at the execution of those elements. What i don't agree with is your view en the A's world. There's a lot of interesting stories that could be telled with the beefy but still manageable A's cast living on Earth.
StrikerS is a nice project but it was a waste they skipped Nanoha's teen years entirely, following her during the last year or year and a half before moving to Mid-Childa would be interesting, the transition to Mid-Childa could be the surprise after the grand finale and could've helped to flesh and stablish the A's cast a bit better since A's was mostly fighting and suffering for Hayate and The Wolkenritter.
StrikerS implied that the A's cast had lots of adventures during the timeskip, adventures that we won't see xDU. Vita bonded with Nanoha closely during those years and i also want to know more about the other Wolks, and how Hayate get to end in good terms with Ex-Admiral Graham. Also can be a good chance to develop the Season One's cast who get mercilessly erased from StrikerS, it's very interesting to see how Nanoha's family and school life will change now that her family and close friends know her magical secret xD. The breather episodes would be about Nanoha's school life with Arisa, Suzuka, Fate and Hayate ...or the Wolkenritter working on ordinary jobs xD.
StrikerS is a decent series with some notorious flaws but what i really resented is the looong jump in time. An inter-middel between the two season could be more appropiate in my opinion xD
Have Wolkenritter in coats xD! (i want to hug them xD!)
All valid points. To add on to that, here's a little rant I went on another board regarding StrikerS...
"
For me, I just couldn't get rid of the bad taste that the series left in my mouth with the first 2/3s. Besides, there are some other problems that I think are inherent throughout the series.
Other than the militaristic feel, the characterization mess ups, the lack of NanoFeiHaya action and the training, I think the series was just way, way too overambitious. What do I mean? Well, to put it simply... Too. Many. Characters. I can't count the times where the billions of characters that were introduced and just weren't given enough screen time or development for us to sufficiently care for them. In the same vein, they also tried to expand the series by introducing to us the entire magical universe which, I think, was again not very well done or given sufficient elaboration. I also didn't care much for many of the concepts that were introduced in the series. Cyborgs? Giant Mecha? Where'd that come from?
Finally, the fact that it wasn't set on earth also bothered me. One of the reasons that the original and A's was so good (to me), is that it was quite relateable. Being in a foreign magical world just came out of left field to me and I wasn't able to get attached to it due to the lack of development (as explained earlier).
I don't know why, but they really, really wanted to age the main characters a lot in this seires. They are only 19, but already take on so adult roles, have so adult personalities and Nanoha and Fate being mothers??? Really? Urgh, that just blew my mind. The characters become completely unrelatable (to me). I'm an advocate of 'freedom' and I don't like seeing characters being tied down or restricted in one way or another. (LIMITERS!!! GAH!!!) I can understand that as they mature, they need to take on more responsibilty. But is is too much to ask to take it slowly? And not at the expense of character personality, development and screentime? Responsibility is one thing, held back is another.
Not to mention, what happened to all of Nanoha's friends and family? I don't' recall ever seeing them in the series.
I really hate to make this comparison, but do you know of the Ben 10 series? In the original, he was 10, not unlike Nanoha. Alien Force was a series set when Ben, the main hero, was a teenager, again, not unlike StrikerS. Usually, I hate series that significantly age characters but I didn't mind it at all with Alien Force. Why?
In this chapter:
AEC weapons are shit.

Record 14 is out, but I havn't found raws yet.
Ta-da! Force 13 in English is out!

If only Force was as awesome as that pic of Rein, then all would be good in the world.

Geez, did it have to be scanned with the Hubble telescope?

Strike Cannon+Fortress=useless
Fate=awesome
Wat. They still can't make equipment that can keep up with Nanoha's awesomeness.
Ch. 13 up on mangafox

Oh Curren, you silly girl.
here's how to fix nanoha
i know this will never happen
more GOOD male characters (i get the feeling the male chars are deliberately kept shitty to appeal to the /u/ crowd)
hell, just can the /u/ shit entirely, it's been an anchor on this series from day one, search your hearts you know it to be true. if you have to get one or all of nanoha/fate/hayate a romantic interest, just definitively kill the yuri shit for all time.
fuck the moe magical girl elements and play up the war/military elements more
better fight scenes (more scenes like the Fate/Signum fight in As, and less of the bind shit that has fucking ruined the action in this series from DAY 1)
a coherent plot always helps
sideline subaru, teana, and well, most of everyone who got introduced in strikers
make the bureau at least
delve into the whole alhazard shit, as well as the belka shit, which was dropped after S1 and barely even delved into in S3 (don't bring up soundstages please, and those aren't really adequate anyway)
to fit all this in you'd need like 26 eps of As-like pacing, which is absolutely perfect.
you can thank me later.
>>MORE of Nanoha As and less of the garbage they're feeding us these days
Only reason why I'm still in this fanbase is the upcoming PSP game. Honestly I didn't even like Hayate until the first game came out.
and the SRW reference that keeps on popping up. I have not watch nor play many media for it. I just don't like how it seems like the story is just pulling off reference from a genre I rarely have anything to do with.
I think is not that bad as long as they're just references but lately Tsuzuki apparently is making just copy/paste of various elements and storylines from SRW.
Case in point: Signum is progressively becoming less of an expy of Lamia and more of a flat-out clone of her.
>>64
There is a new SRT game in the works BTW, but with anime characters directly in combat instead of robots. I forgot its title, but it looked good.
It was sort of like this old flash: http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/battle-fantasia-w/301765
If Nanoha and Fate were in the game, they'd be canon lesbians there too I bet.
Honestly, i don't care. As long as we get Nanoha and Fate as playable characters in an awesome Endless Frotnier-like SRT game they can be as lesbians as they want.
...they still will be kickass characters xD!
ilVg6x+d at different cpu
>>65
Sounds like I should be watching/reading SRW instead of continue following this series if they're copying and pasting.
already knew about that. it's still in the works? I thought it's just fan video only since I hear nothing else about it for years.
btw there is a crossover game coming out called Nendoroid Generation on the PSP. I'm not sure if I should care about this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o2gorYranc
Actually Subaru and Teana would fit incredibly well in one of those games, both Endless Frontier games portray Gunfighter/Brawler duets among the main cast like Haken/Aschen and Alady/Neige. Teana/Subaru are almost the quintesinal example of the franchise(as Nanoha/Fate have more similar skills), plus, they also fit the Haken/Aschen trait of SkilledGunner/RobotGirl.
>>64
They ARE taking the espy thing a bit far, but it was an element of Signum that I've always liked (even though personality-wise the comparison has ALWAYS been overstated just because they have the same VA).
But there's a part of me that wants to see more SRW references, not less. At the very least, some mage version of Shuu Shirakawa or Vindel Mauser (granted, they DID have one for a pseudo-Mauser role, they just killed her off in the first season...this franchise would be imo way better had they kept Precia alive somehow, especially considering how anti-climatic and badly executed her death was)would be the most credible threat this series has ever had, at least since As.
Also throwing in some Jam Project songs can only help your soundtrack :D.
Remember that plot point of the Betrayers doujin...
Jail's prophecies became true, mages and knights are now weaksauce and robots will dominate the battlefield from now on.
I swear, if /faceless mooks/ do a better job than main characters, then something has gone horribly wrong with the editing and writing process.
So Jail Scaglietti is actually Light Yagami...GOD DAMMIT!!!
It's like a reversal of the Star Wars prequels. We went from clone soldiers to a droid army.
