Hey there Garyu! Finally some one to man up this pink bishoujo ghetto!
Oh look, more training! And people call Force generic shonen >>
I'm not sure if this 'Nobody likes my favorite Nanoha series' any better than shipping threads. You'd think the people who wanted more Vivio and more StrikerS-like material would be happy...
Anyway, if there is no Fate, I don't care.
Just a joke, lighten up.
I like Vivid and Force, I'm just tried of people who bash Force for being 'generic shonen' when Vivid is pretty generic shonen as well. Consistancy, yo!
>>5
If Vivid is a generic shonen, we need to redefine what a generic shonen is.
"Generic shonen" never had a definition in the first place. It's just a phrase people throw around when they try to act high and mighty, like it's some how benieth them.
Generally, though, it's applied to action titles that run in Shonen Jump such as Bleach and Naruto. Perhaps the best example is Dragon Ball Z, which could be said to have set the formula in place. In Dragon Ball, the formula was basically thus: New opponent appears, hero is beaten by this opponent, hero goes off to train in the mountains/hyperbolic time chamber/whatever, comes back to face opponent again, reveals some sort of new technique/power-up, defeats opponent, opponent is either killed or joins the good guys, another new opponent appears, etc.
So let's take a look at Vivid. New opponent appears (Einhart), hero (Vivio) is beaten by this opponent, hero goes off to train, hero faces opponent again, only in Vivid, Vivio repeats the lose and train cycle. Vivid fits even more-so with the DBZ vibe considering all they've been doing is fist fighting.
Being "generic shonen" is hardly a bad thing. Bleach is a highly enjoyable series, for example. It's fine if you want to say Force is bad because it's 'generic shonen', but Vivid should not be spared the same criticism.
>>7
And Halo is a generic platform game because you can jump.
>Being "generic shonen" is hardly a bad thing. Bleach is a highly enjoyable series, for example.
Yeah, if Nanoha was more like Bleach it would hardly be a bad thing.
>>And Halo is a generic platform game because you can jump.
And apparently Force is a generic shonen manga because it has a male lead.
It's silly logic no matter how you look at it. I mean, I've never played Halo, but it looks like every other first person shooter I've ever seen. Does this mean it's a bad game? Of course not. There must be something fun about it for it to be so popular.
Vivid is an ok manga, and hopefully it will get better once the actual plot kicks in. But the fact that it has many things in common with shonen action manga is undeniable.
Vivid does have it's charms, for the NanoFate fans and for the other characters fans as well, and not to forget the star of the manga Vivio!
Anyway they really have to do something about the plot since it's currently going no where, if they start having Einhart going nuts because of something about her memory or something (or anything else relating to Einhart ancestors for that matter) then we'll see a repeat of Nanoha's daughter becoming more and more like her... befriending people at maximum power!!!
Ah well moving along swiftly...
>>10
If nanoha befriending people in RX-78-2 Style, then is Vivio befriend people in Kamen Rider-Style?
Does any anime/manga/etc. in the MGLN franchise really need a plot? Up to now, lots of moe characters proved to be enough.
It's particularly necessary for Vivid, as there's a month between chapters so there needs to be something to look forward to. If I want lolis flashing their panties at me, I could just go search Danbooru or hang out at not4chan or something.
Force on the other hand had plot from the get go, and it invokes the feeling of "Damn, I want the next chapter right now so I can find out what happens next!"
>>13
more like "damn, when are they going to finally show Nanoha blowing something up?"
At least we know it's coming. We know she's not going to be doing any of that in Vivid.
Probably around the same point Mai showed up to be a minor character in Otome.
Why is it so hard to accept that Nanoha isn't the main character anymore? Her development has gone as far as it can, so now it's time for some one else to step up. I don't see anyone complaining that Vivio is the main character in Vivid and Nanoha has been reduced to a homemaker.
Of course you might say it's because Nanoha actually appears in Vivid, but it's only been 3 chapters of Force. Give it time and she'll show up soon enough.
Agreed, Nanoha is by all means taking a break and by all rights we should have a fresh character to take up where she left off, in this case Vivio.
I'm pretty fine with the idea of having new blood taking the central role, just like Force introduce a completely new character been the star... of course most would grumble that it's a guy been the main character in force...
Still i would like to see some good plot developmenet so I can get my teeth sink into!
>>16
good example to compare to. i'm sure everyone watching (that liked the series) was waiting for that to happen and then she was kickass awesome.
>>16
lol spoilers. Just started watching Mai Hime.
>>18
Totally true.
In fact, if you think about it, we're pretty lucky. Most series would end once the main character got to 19. Nanoha's 25 in Force.
The idea of having younger characters get bigger roles as they grow up makes a lot of sense and it's a good way to ensure you always have a way to keep the series going.
>>20
gasp you haven't seen that series yet? well, if you liked Nanoha then it should somewhat appeal to you. and like Nanoha, it gets more action based in the second season which is Otome. then again, it still doesn't compare to Nanoha awesomeness
>>20
If, like me, you end up finding Mai Hime a bit lacking, try Mai Otome anyway -- I found it definitely better. (As in, I probably will never re-watch Mai Hime, but I enjoyed my re-watching Mai Otome recently.°
>>25
haha, i haven't watched Otome since it first aired yet i still remember what you're talking about.
>>22
>>23
I'm about 9 eps in and honestly, it is a bit boring. I'm still watching it because I have to seed it. D'oh... Mai is a goodie-two-shoes and most of the characters are kind of bland to me at this point. A small part of me is waiting for Nanoha-style befriending. (It was a pleasant surprise to hear Yukari Tamura's voice as a drunken schoolteacher.) Oh well. I'll try out Mai Otome anyway. Since you guys make it sound so good.
Well, if you like Nanoha, then Otome will definitely be more to your taste as it's an actual transforming heroine series. I certainly think it's better than HiME, as the story is also on a larger scale too.
Anyways, Otome is not Mai's story, hense why she had such a small role. It's about Arika, Mashiro and Nina, and thus they got the focus, just like how Force and Vivid aren't about Nanoha, they're about Touma and Vivio, respectively.
>>28
Perfect. Mai is pretty dull. But I can never get enough of Nanoha befriending. sadpuppyface.jpg

Looks like loli Rider is all grown up now.
I know what you mean... it kind of feels a little disturbing when she switch from a serene face to... I don't know what to call it.. boastful?
>>33
I don't even know. My first thought was that she's advertising some hot springs or something...
RAW's out: http://www.mediafire.com/?mmnytmwcjw1
Looks like Lutecia is just excited at all her friends coming over.
...
VERY excited.
I dawwww'd
Happy Yuri Family is happy.
If the admin gets mad, it's not my fault...
I wonder what the top numbers on those grade sheets mean. My guess would be their magic scores, with the lower the number, the higher their ranking. Corona's got straight 100s in her academics, but is only a B rank, while Rio didn't do as well, but she's got an S rank.
So they're all heading out to Lutecia's planet where they'll, you guessed it, train. Didn't a lot of people hate StrikerS because of all the training?
>>36
OH GOD FATEHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH!!
I wish I had friends that would make me jump in a hot spring and scream from my rooftop...
And I'm glad the artist made finally Erio look like a teenager. Can't say the same for Caro though.
>Didn't a lot of people hate StrikerS because of all the training?
Vivid=Strikers+lolixfanservice
Every time Fate comes home they're doing it right. Yes, I do feel like a drug addict getting a cheap fix. And yes, it feels bad.
But not really.
>>43
So they can magically transform from cute/sexy to awesome/sexy
and it's official now, every character has either gotten cuter or straight up the hotness level. biggest drastic change is Lutecia hands down

For those who are too eager to wait for the scans, here's the text translation.
By the way, whoever did the translation didn't know the names of some of the numbers, so for reference:
Someone=Wendi
Dark Hair=Dieci
Light Hair=Cinque.
>wingsofyuri
Heh.
Thank yoooou.
Lutecia's house is the strongest.
>It seems to have come.
Bardiche just can't get it right.
Do you neab Raising Heart?? I don't see Bardiche anywhere in that pic... and why in hells name is RH given angel wings... shouldn't it be devil wings??? lol
>>49
Oops. Yeah, Raising Heart. What I'm still wondering is why does RH have wings when it could fly already.
